| May 26, 2012 12:00 AM

Marie Therese Ohaneson, 94, passed away on Thursday April 26, 2012, at Lake View Care Center.

Marie was born on May 22, 1917 in Liege, Belgium, the fourth child of Edouard and Germaine Schroeder.

Nicknamed “Memee,” she became “Mimi” to her English-speaking friends, and “Mrs. O” to those who cared for her.

She was married and widowed three times and raised two boys, Jean-Jacques, born in 1939, and Gerard, born in 1943. Over the years she lived in many countries of Western Europe, and the United States and became multi-lingual.

Her last husband, Edward Ohaneson, was the love of her life for over 30 years, until his death from Alzheimer’s in 1999. She then started to fade, taking simple pleasures out of life, and finally died of Alzheimer’s herself, on April 26, 2012, just short of her 95th birthday, in Bigfork.

Mimi was preceded in death by her grandson, Philip. She is survived by her two sons, Jean-Jacques and Gerard and wife Laura P. d’Aquin; her granddaughter, Alexandra; her stepchildren Christine Kent, Edward David Ohaneson and Michael Peters Ohaneson; and eight step-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Mimi will be held at 10:30 a.m. on May 30 at Lake View Care Center. Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Northwest Montana Humane Society, P.O. Box 221, Kalispell MT 59903.
