| May 31, 2012 4:13 PM

Susan J. (Salgo) Fuerst, 84, formerly of Kalispell, “peacefully left this earth” on Saturday, May 5, 2012, in Kingston, R.I.

She was born in Miskole, Hungary, on July 8, 1927.

She survived the turbulence of World War II and the Holocaust before immigrating to New York City. In New York she worked as a governess and at various other jobs, including many years for Home Savings Bank of White Plains.

However, her main passion in life was caring for her family. She was a self-sacrificing wife, mother and grandmother, a model of joyful servanthood, and the quiet center of strength for her family.

Susan loved flowers, classical music, dogs, and cooking incredible meals for family and friends. Living in Montana for 16 years was a very special time of her life.

Susan will be dearly missed by her husband of 67 years, Robert, of Kingston; daughters, Judie and Frank Lospaluto of Kingston, and Kate and Michael Fraser of Kalispell; and grandchildren, Ryan, Jamie, Seth, Anaka, David and Megan.

Private services were held in Rhode Island.
