Glacier Nationals fall to Warriors
WHITEFISH — The Glacier Nationals fell 7-5 to the West Sound Warriors in a game between the NORPAC’s top two teams Friday at Stumptown Ice Den.
Glacier (9-3-1 NORPAC, 10-9-1 overall) had a 50-33 advantage in shots on goal, but failed to convert on all 12 of its power play chances.
West Sound (13-2 NORPAC) was more successful on special teams, scoring on 2 of 7 power plays and adding a short-handed goal.
Glacier trailed 5-4 after two periods, but Conor Walsh scored 1 minute and 25 seconds into the third to knot the score at 5. West Sound answered midway through the period when Josh Twietmeyer scored on a power play. Twietmeyer potted an empty net goal with 21 seconds remaining to end any hope of a Glacier comeback.
Glacier now trails West Sound by five points in the NORPAC standings, but it has played two fewer league games.
The Nationals host the Warriors again today at 7:35 p.m.
