Good neighbor policy pays off

An observant resident contacted the Kalispell Police Department after seeing her neighbor fall two days prior and had not been able to get an answer at the door. The neighbor’s grandson let police into the residence and the neighbor was transported to the hospital with unspecified health issues and/or injuries.

An irate person reported his bike had been stolen the day prior and he had now found it on a bike rack on First Avenue East. He threatened to beat up the person who stole it if they tried to leave with it and said he had a knife, but would not use it. The thief returned the bicycle to the man and left before officers arrived.

An upset man reported a not-so-friendly friend of a friend, who was supposed to have the man’s car towed to a Flathead Drive residence after it had been in an accident earlier that day, instead only returned the personal items that were inside the car. The man said he believed the person took the car to a recycling business for the money.

Political tensions related to the upcoming election led to a political sign on Sherry Lane being stolen and other signs on Parkway Drive being vandalized.

A drunken bicyclist was seen falling off his bicycle into people’s yards on 10th Avenue West. Officers dropped the uncoordinated rider off at his apartment.

An upset mother reported her daughter’s cellphone was stolen by a teacher who refused to give it back.

A report of a man peeping into cars at a bar on Airport Road was found to be just the tip of the mischievous iceberg when it was discovered items were missing from several vehicles.

A covert smoker left a pile of cigarette butts in a Woodland Avenue yard after a resident of the home saw the person trespassing on the property in the middle of the night who then fled when the resident turned on the light.

A group of clandestine high school students were reported smoking marijuana in an alley off Sixth Avenue West.

A Social Security card was stolen on Denver Avenue.


 

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office dealt with two calls of a feline persuasion Tuesday evening.

At 4:07 p.m., deputies responded to Bridge Street in Bigfork, where a hypothermic cat was found by a person who believed someone had thrown it in the river.

At 5:44 p.m., a person on Cobbler Village in Kalispell reported they had found a cat, still alive, that had been shot with a small-caliber gun.

A landlord used bear spray for an other-than-intended purpose after showing up at a Elk Park Road home in Columbia Falls and started a fight. The husband of the woman who reported the incident as well as their son were sprayed by the landlord.

A thief looking for a quick charge stole electrical wire and cords from a Witty Lane residence in Columbia Falls.

Transients were reported trying to stay inside a home on U.S. 2 East in Kalispell and on a property on Fourth Street East North in Columbia Falls.


 

A spurned lover contacted the Columbia Falls Police Department after her car was keyed by her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend on Fourth Avenue West.


 

 A stubborn motorist was arrested by Montana Highway Patrol troopers after refusing to submit to a breath alcohol test when stopped on U.S. 93.


 

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of assault on Courville Trail in Polson.

An assault with a weapon was reported on Dublin Gulch Road.
