Car a total loss; house saved

Firefighters with the Kalispell Fire Department put out a vehicle on fire as well as the carport the vehicle was in after a quick response and call to 911 by residents helped protect the main structure from being damaged. The vehicle was a total loss. Automatic aid was provided by the South Kalispell Fire Department, Evergreen Fire Department, Kalispell Police Department and Flathead Electric Cooperative.

 

Flathead County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Niarada area near the old Flathead mines after a concerned person found what he believed to be a grave with several small items near it, including a cherub and a plastic flower. Sheriff Chuck Curry said deputies have not dug anything up, and they do not believe it is a grave — or if it is, that it is extremely old. Deputies are now trying to contact the owner of the claim.

A group of cheating hunters were reported spotlighting in woods belonging to a Montana 35 resident.

A curious black bear wandered onto the deck of a Handkerchief Creek Drive property. The bear left before an animal control officer arrived. There was already a Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks bear trap on the property.

An upset Ezy Drive resident reported his gas had been siphoned for the third time in six months, and said he believed it was being done by neighborhood children.

 

The Kalispell Police Department and a caring passerby may have saved a man’s life when the passerby saw the man put a hose from his exhaust pipe to his window and lay down in the front seat. The passerby pulled the hose out of the exhaust, and the man was transported to the emergency room for a mental health evaluation.

A man who looked like he had just walked out of a horror movie was directed to the county health department after he walked into a South Main Street business with a confused look on his face, which was also covered with large gashes and blood.

A fired-up veteran said he had his guns out and threatened to shoot up a Veterans Administration clinic because he was not getting his pain medication. He eventually calmed down and said he would never do something like that.

An extremely angry woman reported a transient on her “private property.” She became even angrier when a dispatcher asked for her name and phone number. Police advised the transient to move along.

A flustered Sylvan Drive woman contacted police because a pit bull/greyhound mix was at her door and wouldn’t let her leave.

A North Meridian Road resident called police to tell them he didn’t appreciate his upstairs neighbor’s music being played so loudly it shook his apartment. The neighbor turned the music down when confronted by police.

 

A not-so-effective burglar was reported to the Columbia Falls Police Department after a Ninth Street West resident noticed someone had messed with the back door of the house for two nights in a row.

A Fifth Street West resident received an unwelcome welcome home from work after finding his truck had been egged while he was gone.

 

A woman dressed like a cat who got too catty with a bouncer was arrested by Whitefish Police officers at a bar on Baker Avenue. The woman, who was wearing a leopard print coat, hit the bouncer twice shortly before a large brawl broke out involving roughly 20 people. Also arrested were at least two other people for their involvement in the fight, as well as a girl in possession of alcohol, who was released to her mother.

A drunk woman just couldn’t stay upright on West Second Street, even with the help of the shopping cart she was pushing down the middle of the road. The cart, like the woman, ended up upending on the ground.

 

Polson Police officers, with some help from surrounding agencies, were able to apprehend a woman who led police on a pursuit, first in a vehicle and then on foot. The 36-year-old Ronan woman was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant and booked into the Lake County Jail. She will face additional charges related to the pursuit.

A motorist who just couldn’t keep cool during a traffic stop on Montana 35 was arrested for criminal contempt.

A wanted person drew a little too much attention and was arrested on an active warrant after officers responded to a report of suspicious activity at a gas station.
