Robert 'Bobbie' Guckenberg, 57

| October 11, 2012 8:31 PM

Robert “Bobbie” Guckenberg, 57, passed away Oct. 9, 2012, at Brendan House, under the wonderful care of hospice after a three-year battle with cancer.

Bobbie was born Jan. 5, 1955, to Alice Ryerson and Robert Guckenberg. He had five brothers and two sisters. He was born in Kalispell and grew up mostly in Northwest Montana.

In his late teenage years, he joined the Army. Then as a young adult he started working as a sawyer and log truck driver and did that most of his adult life. He traveled hauling logs all over the Pacific Northwest and loved traveling back and forth from Alaska in his logging truck.

In his free time he enjoyed bow and rifle hunting. He harvested huge elk, black bears and massive whitetail bucks. He thoroughly loved the outdoors and enjoyed everything life had to offer.

Bobbie had three beautiful children; Chance Guckenberg was his oldest, and Cody and Cassie Cislo-Guckenberg were his twins. He also had three stepchildren, Sonju, Jeremiah and Amy. He was the oldest of eight siblings, five brothers, Teddy, Mike, Ronnie, Joe and Tommy, and two sisters, Phyllis and Tracy. Bobbie's son Chance and wife Sarah gave him three wonderful grandchildren, Read, Braiden and Trista.

Bobbie was preceded in death by his stepdad “Pops”; grandma, Annie; uncle, Paul; cousin and close friend, Jeff Helgert; and other loved ones.

Bobbie is survived by his loving mom Alice, and father Robert; all of his brothers and sisters, grandchildren, and lots of nieces and nephews. He will be very missed and always thought of.

“The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kalispell Regional Medical Center and the Brendan House for showing love and support to our family; also an extra special thank you to Kalispell Hospice — what an amazing organization!”

The celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Olney Fire Department.
