Kirk Douglas Giroux, 60

Kirk Douglas Giroux, 60, after a long battle with cancer, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at his home in Coram.

Kirk was born Dec. 19, 1951, in Brown City, Mich., the son of Elthon and Ruth Marie (Ledford) Giroux.  

Kirk worked as a carpenter, bartender and in masonry. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, and making sausage and other smoked foods. He loved people and would help anyone he could.

Kirk was preceded in death by his father, Elthon Giroux. 

He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Hermes) Giroux, of Coram; his mother, Ruth Giroux, of Whitefish Care & Rehab; his brother, James Giroux, of Parker, Colo.; and three sisters, Lynne Younge of Edmond, Okla., Luanne Vorobey, of Port Huron, Mich., and Lucinda Starkey, of Englewood, Colo.

Donations can be made to Wings in lieu of flowers.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 20 at Canyon Community Church in Coram.
