Grammy-winning singer performs in Kalispell

| October 17, 2012 7:00 PM

Grammy-winning singer Terry Barber will perform in Kalispell Tuesday.

Barber, a countertenor superstar, will perform classical and popular favorites in a program presented by the Flathead Valley Concerts Association. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Flathead High School, 644 Fourth Ave. W., Kalispell.

Barber is an alumnus of the Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer. The Oregonian has called him “the jewel in Chanticleer’s crown,” and the San Jose Mercury News has praised his “fresh, attractive, lyric voice.” His solo work includes appearances at the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Spoleto Fesival and Moscow’s Svetlanov Hall — but his work extends well beyond the classical and opera genres.

Barber has recorded on all major classical labels and his own rEvolv imprint. In 2009, he founded “Artist for a Cause,” a nonprofit created to organize collaborations between artists and the charities they support.

Flathead Valley Concerts Association is offering a special deal for this concert: Members may bring a friend at no charge. Otherwise, admission is by season ticket or $15 for adults, $10 for students at the door.
