New country radio station on the air

| October 17, 2012 5:00 PM

The Flathead Valley’s newest radio station is on the air.

The new 94.3 FM KOLK is licensed out of Lakeside and will play new country and all-time country favorites, according to a news release from the new station.

The station is owned and operated by KOFI Inc., which also owns 1180 KOFI AM and KZMN 103.9 The Monster. KOFI acquired the KOLK license in April.

The new station will broadcast out of the same building as its sister stations and will be called 94.3 The Lake. Owners Dave Rae and Scott Davis have been in radio since the 1980s and have owned KOFI and KZMN since 2000.

The Lake is dedicated to Rae and Davis’ former partner Mike “Jorge” Jorgensen, an avid fisherman who died a few years ago.

For more information, call 756-5655. The station’s website, www.943thelake.com, was not available as of Wednesday morning.
