New round of mosaic classes offered

| October 17, 2012 5:30 PM

Stumptown Art Studio has unveiled the first panel in its Windows on Whitefish project — but there are still three panels to create in this community mural.

The finished mural will feature four large mosaic panels, each featuring one of the four seasons and capturing the essence of life in Whitefish. The panels will hang on the exterior wall of the Latitude 48 building.

Community members are invited to be part of the project by taking a $65 mosaic-making class from Deb Stika, the WOW project’s artistic director. Participants will create their own mosaic fish with the skills they acquire in class. After taking the class, they are welcome to attend any of the free community sessions to work on the actual 6- by 9-foot murals.

Upcoming classes are available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 27 and from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 29.

Space is limited, and pre-registration is required. Call Stumptown Art Studio at 862-5929.
