Rash of thefts reported across valley

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office was bombarded with a theft reports from across the valley Thursday.

In Kalispell, someone broke out a side window on a vehicle on West Reserve Drive and stole speakers and an amplifier. On Ash Road, someone stole a packet of information including a fuel card from a locked vehicle. 

In Evergreen, the back door to a Montana 35 business was ripped off, and pills were stolen from several bottles at a Poplar Drive home.

In Whitefish, someone broke into a drop box at a rental car business and stole two sets of keys, then used the keys to steal a silver 2012 Toyota Corolla.

In Columbia Falls, a $200 pair of Oakley sunglasses were stolen on Jellison Lane and an ATM card was stolen and used.

A violent bar patron was cited for assault and released after punching another woman in the face three times as soon as the woman walked into the bar.

A man reported an entire herd of cows were loose near Kokanee Bend Drive in Columbia Falls before realizing they might be his.

A woman whose block sounded more like a war zone than a neighborhood reported she heard a bomb go off nearby and had heard it three times in the past week. The woman said she spoke with her husband, who believed it was youths playing with dynamite. Deputies found nothing out of the ordinary.

 

Kalispell Police officers responded to a bar on U.S. 93 South twice in a span of 10 hours.

Thursday afternoon, an extremely drunk woman demonstrated the value of having a house on wheels when she chose to spend the night in her recreational vehicle in the parking lot of the bar after police were called to escort her from the building.

Early Friday morning, a janitor was assaulted by two men who stole his watch and then left in a dark-colored sport-utility vehicle. The men had previously assaulted a bouncer at the bar, from whom they stole a diamond bracelet.

A mob of unruly teens at Woodland Skate Park assaulted a vehicle with their skateboards Thursday night. The group chased the motorist out of the park, screaming “we own this (expletive) place,” cussing and hitting the vehicle, swarming around it until the person drove away while they continued to strike the departing vehicle.

A 20-year-old man who thought he had come up with an easy way to get out of trouble was asked to leave a U.S. 2 West building after attempting to bribe a public official.

 

An anonymous group of Rip Van Winkles were reported to the Columbia Falls Police Department for sleeping in the bushes on the north side of a park off Nucleus Avenue. Officers found a comforter and a pillow in the indicated bushes.

 

The Polson Police Department is asking the public to report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods following more than 20 windows being broken out of vehicles, residences and businesses in Polson over the past three weeks.

It appears that the damage is being caused either by a BB gun or pellet gun and is taking place during nighttime hours.
