Squatters with a sense of entitlement?

A group of homeowners-turned-squatters-turned-thieves were reported to the Whitefish Police Department by the son of the new owner.

The son told police that the people sold the home to his father, who works in North Dakota. When they found out his father was not living there, they reportedly moved back in, even setting up utilities in their own names. The owner’s girlfriend asked the people what they were doing and told them they would be reported to police. Since then, the people left, but apparently stole the refrigerator, stove and other items when they left.

A group of unruly transients police already dealt with twice within 40 minutes at a restaurant and a bar the day prior were again reported on U.S. 93 South, where they were again advised to move along.

A group of stubborn hunters were reported to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office after trying to hunt on private property behind a U.S. 2 East store. When employees told them they had to leave, the hunters moved down to another business, unfazed, grabbed their shotguns and headed into that business’s private property to continue hunting.

A Mission Trail resident requested that an animal control officer investigate after hearing cows crying and coyotes howling in the area.

A woman who believed herself more competent than a professional surveyor was reported for pulling up all of the property stakes and making her own property line on Twin Lakes Road in Whitefish.

A vigilant citizen on Adams Street in Lakeside told police he had footage of two youths running from the police following an incident of criminal mischief.

A South Foys Lake Drive resident reported a ferocious feline that kept coming into his garage and eating all his own cat’s food and attacking him.

A dog on Shadow Lane was reported for jumping over its fence and attacking other dogs and cats.

A Mennonite Church Road resident complained about people spinning their tires in a nearby gravel parking lot.

A satellite radio was stolen from a vehicle on U.S. 2 East in Kalispell.

Tools were stolen from a pickup truck on Bitterroot Drive in Marion.

Kalispell Police Department decided a drunk transient needed coffee and food, and transported him to a restaurant after an employee of a U.S. 93 South hotel found him passed out under the stairs near the front entrance.

A man trying to start a conflagration rather than put one out used a fire extinguisher to damage the door of a Fifth Avenue East apartment.

A woman was transported to the hospital after she was found passed out in her vehicle, which was still running with the window down.

A pair of drunk men were reported asking people for money in the parking lot of a Third Avenue East North business.

Officers arrested a woman on East Idaho Street after being called to help evict her.
