World-renowned pianist to play

The Montana State Music Teachers Association presents world-renowned pianist Spencer Myer in concert Friday, Nov. 2, at 7:30 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kalispell.  

Appearing as the guest artist of the music teachers state donference, Myer will present a concert of stellar classical music. His program will include works by Haydn, Debussy, Liszt, Albeniz and Moszkowski.    

Gold medalist of the 2008 New Orleans International Piano Competition, Myer is garnering stellar audience and critical acclaim from around the globe, rapidly establishing himself as one of the most outstanding pianists of his generation.

In his current season, Myer is making debuts with New York City’s Park Avenue Chamber Symphony, California’s North State Symphony and the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, and returning to the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra and String Orchestra of Brooklyn. He is also offering solo recitals and chamber music collaborations throughout the United States, including another return to Fort Worth for 13 community and educational performances for the Van Cliburn Foundation and a debut with the famed Dorian Wind Quintet.  

An avid chamber musician, he has collaborated with members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Chamber Music Series and with the Blair, Manhattan, Miami and Pacifica string quartets. Festival appearances have included those of the Bard, Blossom, Cape Cod Chamber, Colorado, Meadowlark, Mendocino and Skaneateles music festivals, The Stony Brook International Piano Festival, Texas State International Piano Festival, Canada’s Concerts aux Iles du Bic, Spain’s Gijon International Piano Festival and Indonesia’s Yogjakarta International Music Festival. In 2012, Myer gave a four-sonata recital as part of the San Antonio Symphony Beethoven Festival

Myer is a graduate of The Juilliard School. He can be heard on the Dimension Records label, performing music of the late Cleveland composer Frederick Koch and on a composer-conducted Naxos CD in performances of three concerti from Huang Ruo’s Chamber Concerto Cycle.  

Tickets to see Myer are $10 for students, $20 for adults, and $50 per family.  Tickets are available at the door or in advance at The Kalispell Grand Hotel and The Village Shop in Whitefish. This concert is partially funded by the Montana Arts Council.
