Concert association season opens with pianist

| September 12, 2012 3:00 PM

The Flathead Valley Concerts Association’s 2012-13 season opens Sept. 27 with “The Legacy of Floyd Cramer.”

Cramer is one of the most admired instrumentalists of all time. His signature piano styling is exemplified by the smash hit, “Last Date,” and can be heard on classic songs by countless music legends, including Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley.

His distinctive sound is still alive and powerful today through the music of his grandson, Jason Coleman, who has been playing the piano since he could reach the keys. After Coleman made his Grand Ole Opry debut at age 17, he was given the honor of playing for the Country Music Hall of Fame Medallion Ceremony recognizing his grandfather’s induction into the Hall of Fame.

Coleman has taken to the studio and stage for his own career, producing a collection of his own albums and embarking on his first-ever nationwide tour. “The Legacy of Floyd Cramer” highlights the songs that featured Cramer on the original recordings or were Cramer’s own self-penned hits. With these exciting and nostalgic performances, Coleman is ensuring the “legacy continues.”

The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Flathead High School auditorium.
