Museum to show 'The American President'
The Museum at Central School presents a free screening of “The American President” at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Widowed U.S. president Andrew Shepherd (Michael Douglas), one of the world's most powerful men, can have anything he wants — and what he covets most is Sydney Ellen Wade (Annette Bening), a Washington lobbyist. But Shepherd's attempts at courting her spark wild rumors and decimate his approval ratings in this romantic comedy that explores the question, “What if our politicians told the truth?”
Rob Reiner directs, and Michael J. Fox and Martin Sheen co-star in this 1995 movie. The film is rated PG-13.
Anyone may attend, and there is no charge. Donations will be accepted to help defray the cost of acquiring and showing the film.
Popcorn is free, and wine, beer, pop and water will be for sale. Seating is provided, but people can also bring their own floor pillows, portable chairs or whatever is comfortable for viewing the film.
The free screenings, hosted by the museum’s Historic Film Club, are hosted on the last Tuesday of the month in September, October and November.
