Give us your best shot! - Photo contest starts today

The Daily Inter Lake is pleased to announce a photo contest for our readers — “Flathead Valley Through My Eyes” — that features more than $2,500 in prizes.

This is the latest installment of our “Your Life Covered” campaign, which has used our own staff photos on billboards, TV, radio and in our own publications to promote our remarkable Flathead Valley and the Inter Lake’s role in your everyday life.

Now it’s your turn!

All local readers are encouraged to enter their best photographs in each of three categories:

— Scenic Flathead. For your best landscapes and outdoor photography. You know we live in the most beautiful place in the world; now here’s your chance to prove it.

— People of the Flathead. For everything from children to sports to work to recreation. We love to see our community members having fun, but every aspect of life in the Flathead is eligible.

— Animals of the Flathead. For your best pet photos, stunning Glacier Park wildlife portraits, or even ducks and geese at Woodland Park.

The contest can be found at www.dailyinterlake.com/YourLifeCovered. To enter you need to “Like” the Daily Inter Lake’s Facebook page and submit a digital image to us.

The grand prize will be a weekend getaway for two to Seattle from Oct. 11-13. The prize is sponsored by Flathead Travel Service of Kalispell and includes airfare for two, a two-night stay at the Edgewater Hotel in downtown Seattle, two tickets to the touring version of the Broadway play “The Wizard of Oz” and $250 spending money. Estimated value of the grand prize package is $1,500.

The grand-prize winner will be selected by the Daily Inter Lake and will be our favorite photo from all the entries.

First-, second- and third-place prizes will also be awarded in each of the three categories. First place is a $250 gift certificate to The Lodge at Whitefish Lake.

Second place is a $75 gift certificate to Snappy Sport Senter.

Third place is a $35 gift certificate to When in Rome Pizzeria.

Photos can be entered from today until Tuesday, Sept. 3. You can enter as many times as you like.

The top five photos in each category will be determined by the votes of our Facebook fans, and the Inter Lake will pick the three winners in each category from those finalists. Voting will be active from Sept. 4-10 with the grand prize and other winners to be announced by the Daily Inter Lake on Sept. 15.
