Mother in bad frame of mind

Flathead County Sheriff’s Office deputies apprehended a woman and recovered her child after she barged into her ex’s house, took their 2-year-old son, put him in her car without a child seat, and took off. She also stole her ex’s truck keys so he couldn’t follow her and ran over his garbage can as she sped away. She had reportedly been texting him all day saying she was going to commit suicide.

A missing kayaker was found walking down the road near Home Ranch Bottoms after having been missing for several hours. The man initially flipped his kayak at Polebridge and got out of the water, then got another kayak to go back in after his lost one. In addition to the sheriff’s office, North Valley Search and Rescue and Two Bear Aviation also responded.

An East Evergreen Drive resident reported his neighbor was in double trouble after he took his dog to the vet and found it had just been shot with a pellet, and that a second pellet in a healed wound was also found. The man said in addition to the incident that had just occurred, the dog came running back home from the neighbor’s eight months ago yelping, and he subsequently saw his neighbor on the front porch with a pellet gun.

A U.S. 93 West man reported that when he tried to get the address where a dog was barking, a man confronted him and threatened to “kick his (expletive) (expletive) and burn down his house.”

A Solberg Drive man shared his belief that someone was pointing things at him while he was mowing his lawn, possibly Tasers, and that he had been shocked that day while mowing.

Officers gave youths rides home to Vanderbilt Drive, Farm to Market Road, Iowa Avenue, Kalispell Avenue, and the Whitefish area after receiving a report of youths in their underwear yelling and throwing bottles outside a Ridgewood Drive property.

A pontoon boat ran out of fuel near Woods Bay late Monday evening, stranding six until deputies were able to tow the boat back to shore.

A young man tried to set a Trumble Creek Road warehouse on fire using matches and a bottle full of gasoline.

A Foxtrot Lane resident reported the neighbor walked over to their fence, yelled “boom” and walked away.

A Vista Bonita Drive resident vented to police, asking if the two people in motorized paragliders flying over the neighborhood, spooking the horses, was doing anything illegally. The resident was advised that there are no regulations on how low they can fly. The deputy was unable to make contact with the flying duo.

A Kalispell woman reported her teenage son was mentally molested. She was advised the matter was a civil issue.

A Montana 209 resident in Bigfork called for someone to dispatch a fawn after their dogs “shredded” the animal.

A Hidden Valley Drive woman reported her neighbor was hitting her horse with golf balls.


Firefighters with the South Kalispell Fire Department had to cut a hole in a park fence to get to a portable toilet on fire shortly after 4 a.m. Wednesday.


The Kalispell Police Department received a report of a mountain lion on a walking path in the area of Woodland Avenue and Sylvan Drive.

An Oberlin Loop high school teacher may have encountered the wrath of teenagers when he found his vehicle and house had been egged.

A Fourth Avenue East resident was counseled about squirrels after reporting some had been falling out of a tree, dead, and may have been poisoned.

A man and woman reported hitting and yelling at each other on Seventh Avenue West were found to be “loud by nature” and were advised to keep it down and told they could not live in a tent in the front yard of a home.

A man had to be turned around and given some assistance after being discharged from the emergency room and walking out with an IV still in his arm.


A pair of bratty boaters were reported to the Whitefish Police Department after an incident at a Bay Point Drive slip Tuesday. The couple asked about a boat slip rental the day before and were told they could not use the slips for insurance reasons because they were not homeowners.

On Tuesday, the couple showed up and used one of the slips to launch their boat. When the manager told them they were not authorized, the man told her he could do what he wanted, threw a piece of paper at her, then left, saying he would be back at 4 p.m. to park his boat in the slip.

A man on the move contacted police after a 24-hour notice was posted on his motor home at the airport, saying he has an aircraft in his trailer and was using the airport for “flying purposes.”

A woman reported her belief that she had been given a date rape drug after sleeping for 12 hours Saturday night. She said she had not been sexually assaulted, and initially didn’t report it, but the suspect — a local bouncer — was at the Central Avenue bar then. A responding officer reported the information was documented and no assault occurred other than the woman’s perceived drugging.


A patron at a Nucleus Avenue bar contacted the Columbia Falls Police Department to report a youth inside the bar and that the bartender was using bad language. The patron also claimed employees were selling drugs and smoking marijuana behind the building.

A confused boyfriend reported receiving a death threat in a text message sent from his girlfriend’s phone, but said his girlfriend was out of town and he hadn’t seen her in a few days. He was unsure if she or someone else sent the text.
