Speaker Boehner visiting Bigfork on Tuesday
Speaker of the U.S. House John Boehner is visiting Bigfork today to attend a fundraiser on behalf of Montana’s lone U.S. representative, Steve Daines, a fellow Republican.
The announcement of Boehner’s visit came late Monday via Jayson Peters, chairman of the Flathead County Republican Central Committee.
Daines is currently said to be pondering a run for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Democratic Sen. Max Baucus, although he has not ruled out running for re-election to the House seat he first won in 2012.
The reception is being hosted by Dick and Vicki Hammer of Bigfork. A general reception lasting from 7 to 8:30 p.m. will be held for those who contribute $1,000 as an individual or $2,500 on behalf of a political action committee. A “VIP Roundtable Discussion” with Boehner and Daines will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for those who contribute $5,200 as an individual or $5,000 on behalf of a PAC. Contributions are said to benefit the Steve Daines for Montana and the Montana Republican State Central Committee Federal Account.

Daines also has several public events scheduled on Wednesday in the Flathead, including at a Habitat for Humanity work site in Columbia Falls, at the Proof Inc. rifle manufacturing facility in Columbia Falls, and at Flathead Valley Community College.
