Mansion hosts 'Buffalo Bash' fundraiser

| August 21, 2013 5:00 PM

The C.E. Conrad Buffalo Bash and Sideshow is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 12.

The bash is a fundraiser for the Conrad Mansion, the historic home of Kalispell founder Charles Conrad and his wife, Alicia.

The event, which takes place at Spring Brook Ranch near Herron Park, also celebrates Conrad’s establishing the Conrad bison herd. He purchased about 50 bison and pastured them on what is now Kalispell’s Buffalo Hill Golf Course. Some of those animals formed the basis of the National Bison Range.

The event features a bison stew dinner with all the fixin’s, a performance by cowboy singer Bill Humenik an art show with buffalo paintings from Going to the Sun Gallery in Whitefish, door prizes and more. Actors playing Charles and Alicia Conrad will be on hand telling stories about the Kalispell founders’ lives.

Tickets are $120 each; only 130 will be sold. Proceeds will benefit the Conrad Mansion Museum.

Purchase tickets in Kalispell at the museum gift shop, 330 Woodland Ave., or The Bookshelf, 101 Main St.; Going to the Sun Gallery, 1377 Central Ave., Whitefish; The Shops at Station 8, 38 U.S. 2 E., Columbia Falls; or at the Bigfork Museum of Art and History on Electric Avenue in Bigfork.
