Woolen Collectibles offers knitting classes

| August 21, 2013 5:00 PM

Woolen Collectibles offers three classes for knitters in September:

Puppets

Sept. 10, 17 and 24

1 to 2:30 p.m.

This is a fun way to try out different techniques in your knitting.

The puppet starts with a 1-inch bottom body worked in a single all-over pattern. The legs are worked as for mitten thumbs. The head starts with a flap for the back, after which stitches are picked up around the sides of the flap and the face is shaped with a series of decreases. Ears are knitted separately and sewn on.

Socks, Socks, Socks

Sept. 11, 18 and 25

3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Interested in a small take-along project? Socks are just what you need. Once you have mastered socks, almost any knitting project will be easier.

Mittens

Sept. 12, 19 and 26

11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Mittens make wonderful portable knitting projects — and whose fingers don't need warming? This is a fun way to learn about using four needles.

Students will learn Fair Isle mitten construction, knitting a mitten in many colors on 12-inch circular needles. Techniques to be covered include the ribbed cuff, the thumb gusset, patterning for the front and palm, and the pointed tip shaping at the end of the mitten.

All classes cost $45 for three sessions. For additional information, contact Tammy Eigeman Thompson at 756-8746 or woolencollectibles@legendsoft.net.

Woolen Collectibles is located at 183 First Ave. E.N., Kalispell.
