Glacier Park visitor count increases during July

Glacier National Park had a slightly busier July compared to last year, and the park is still on pace for a busier year in total recreation visitors.

According to the National Park Service statistics office, there was a 2.4 percent increase in July visitation at Glacier.

The park received 645,514 visitors during July, up from 630,093 in July 2012.

The 1,156,976 visitors entering the park in the first seven months of the year amounts to a 3.2 percent increase over the same period last year.

The park’s entrance at West Glacier has been the busiest, with a 7.3 increase in visitors in July and an 8.3 percent increase for the first seven months of the year.

Overnight stays were up on all counts in July, including concession lodging, tent camping, RV stays, backcountry stays and group camping.
