A Kalispell transient is in jail after allegedly trying to break into Frontier Guns early Friday morning.

Anton Golovko, 24, was booked into the Flathead County Detention Center on preliminary charges of attempted burglary and criminal mischief.

According to Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry, deputies responded to Frontier Guns at 2237 U.S. 2 E., Kalispell, after a burglary alarm was triggered at the business’s back door.

Pry marks were found along the edge of the door, although the would-be burglar did not make it inside.

Deputies followed footprints from the door and eventually came across Golovko. A dispatch log indicated he was known to carry “many knives and brass knuckles.”

Curry said Golovko did not want to talk but deputies matched his footprints to those found at the back door of the business.
