Horses run amok on highway

A Flathead County Sheriff’s deputy responded to Montana 35 in Kalispell after several people called to report a group of horses running down the highway. A person eventually showed up with an empty horse trailer to pick up the animals and take them back to their owner’s home.

A Columbia Falls woman reported a perverted man had been calling repeatedly over the last few months, asking how old she and her daughter were. When asked why he wanted to know, he said it was because he wanted to have sex with them.

A lieutenant with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office called for intel on a woman they were dealing with who had holed up in a house with a high-powered rifle, threatening to shoot anyone who approached. She was eventually taken into custody.

Rangers in the Hungry Horse area found a car battery, tool box, socket set and other miscellaneous items under the Hungry Horse Bridge.

A belligerent, angry, screaming woman was reported at a Montana 35 business after she was confronted for shoplifting.

More than 1,000 feet of Christmas lights were stolen from a Whitefish Stage home and adjacent fence line.

A Shelter Valley Drive resident reported receiving vulgar and sexually harassing text messages.

A Lakeside resident returned home to find someone had entered the house through a window.


A therapist contacted the Kalispell Police Department after receiving a “sext” — including an inappropriate photo — from a young client. She had already notified the client’s parent.

An employee at a U.S. 2 West business reported a man stole his keys to the business’s vending machines and that the man and a woman got away with a money receptacle from one of the machines, although he didn’t believe they escaped with any actual money.

A motorist drove himself to the emergency room after having difficulty breathing and suffering chest pains following a rear-end collision on Commons Way.

A man was arrested after a rear-end collision on North Main Street.

A drunken driver was arrested and taken to jail after high-centering his vehicle on an Airport Road curb.


A Whitefish Police officer responded to a Central Avenue bar after a man reported another man knocked him out and was still being rowdy, throwing bottles at the bar. The man was part of a group of seven men, who were attempting to continue to beat up the caller. He eventually hid from the men. No one involved wanted charges pressed.

A man from out of town called with questions about gambling with an expired ID and whether a casino runner could keep his winnings due to his ID being expired.

A 16-year-old girl was arrested after she was caught shoplifting from a Central Avenue store.


A Columbia Falls Police officer and county deputies responded to a First Street West North home after a woman reported a man was pounding on the door, screaming for her husband to “get out here.” The only damage was caused when he kicked a piece of paneling off the porch. The man was advised not to return to the home or he would be cited for trespassing. The residents were advised how to apply for a restraining order.

A pair of motorists each received several citations after a traffic stop in which it was determined that both vehicles had fraudulent license plates. One of the motorists was also advised of a warrant for his arrest.
