Local book clubs are boasting a lineup bound to attract a wide variety of readers in March.

The Flathead County Library Book Club meets March 12 to discuss Pamella Hays’ “Circling.”

On the Blackfeet Reservation, a man, his wife and their two children of mixed heritage struggle to find their identities in the two worlds they inhabit, trying to reconcile modernity with its allure of materialism and power with the countervailing reality of the ancient beliefs and rituals of American Indian culture.

The meeting starts at 5 p.m. in the main Kalispell library’s basement conference room.

For more information, contact Marylane Pannell at kuhlpan@cyberport.net or 257-5793.

The Montana History Book Club meets March 14 to discuss “When You and I Were Young, Whitefish,” by Dorothy Johnson.

American West says the book “is a lighthearted look into the life of a growing Western town in the early 20th century. These fresh, jaunty tales of youth radiate good humor.”

The group meets on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Meetings take place in the basement conference room at the Museum at Central School in Kalispell.

Books may be available for purchase in the museum gift shop. For more information, call 756-8381.

The Flathead Valley Community College Reading Group will discuss Louise Erdrich’s “The Last Report on the Miracles at Little No Horse” March 20.

For more 50 years, Father Damien Modeste has served his beloved people, the Ojibwe, on the remote reservation of Little No Horse. Now, nearing the end of his life, Father Damien dreads the discovery of his physical identity, for he is a woman who has lived as a man. To further complicate his quiet existence, a troubled colleague comes to the reservation to investigate the life of the perplexing, possibly false saint Sister Leopolda.

The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.

The group is open to the public and meets monthly, except during the summer, to discuss selected novels. The only cost involved is the purchase of the books.

For more information or to sign up, call Sharon Randolph at 756-3981.

The Bad Rock Book Discussion Group has permanently moved its meetings to the third Thursday of every month. On Feb. 21, the group will discuss “Self,” by Yann Martel.

The book is a fictional autobiography of a young writer that takes the reader to Canada, Portugal, Greece, Turkey and elsewhere.

The group meets at 7 p.m. at Bad Rock Books on Nucleus Avenue in Columbia Falls.

All are welcome. Treats are provided.

Call Carol Rocks at 892-0515 for more information.

The Whitefish Library Book Discussion Group meets March 27 to discuss David Benioff’s “City of Thieves.”

During the Nazis’ siege of Leningrad, Lev Beniov is arrested for looting and thrown into the same cell as a deserter named Kolya. Instead of being executed, Lev and Kolya are given a shot at saving their own lives by complying with an outrageous directive: secure a dozen eggs for a powerful Soviet colonel to use in his daughter’s wedding cake.

The group meets at 6 p.m. on the last Wednesday of each month in the library meeting room.

Books may be available for checkout. Everyone is welcome.

For more information, call the library at 862-9914.
