Polson hosts film festival
Polson plays host to Flathead Lake International Cinemafest in February.
Viewers will have an opportunity to see films by filmmakers from around the world. Guest filmmaker Jeff Chiba Stearns, an award-winning animation and documentary filmmaker from Vancouver, British Columbia, is among the filmmakers who will be on hand to share and discuss his work. Thirty-year film and television producer David W. King, who moved to Polson in 2012 and formed his production company, David W. King Pictures, will also give a special presentation and talk with the audience.
Even young filmmakers have a venue to promote their work: Youths 18 and younger have submitted short- to feature-length films for FLIC Jr.
The event kicks off Feb. 1 with an opening night champagne soiree at KwaTaqNuk Resort, 49708 U.S. 93 E., from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tickets to the soiree are $25 each.
Films will be shown and tickets purchased at Showboat Cinemas in Polson. Other event tickets will be available online at www.flicpolson.com.
A closing night party and “best of” awards show will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 3 at a yet-to-be-determined location. Tickets to that event are $20 each.
Volunteers are needed to work on the festival. To volunteer, call 883-4160 or 883-5908.
