Loggers sweep Savages in Idaho

SALMON, Idaho — The Libby Loggers swept an American Legion baseball doubleheader with the Salmon (Idaho) Savages Wednesday, winning 14-4 and 7-5.

Olver Grupenhoff batted 3 for 4 with a home run and a double as the Loggers 10-run-ruled the Savages. Micah Germany batted 3 for 3.

After allowing four unearned runs in the first inning, Libby pitcher Luke Haggerty bounced back with three scoreless frames to earn the win. Andrew Haggerty pitched a scoreless fifth inning.

Libby trailed 5-4 in the other game before scoring three in the top of the sixth. Grupenhoff drove in the go-ahead run with a double, then scored on a double by Andrew Haggerty.

Grupenhoff, Germany and Luke Haggerty each tallied two hits.

The Loggers play a doubleheader at Kootenai Valley on Friday.

HAMILTON — The Kalispell Lakers’ A team split a pair of games with the Bitterroot Red Sox in Class A Western District play.

Chandler Eaves was the hero for Kalispell in the opener, earning the complete-game win on the mound and batting 2 for 4 at the plate. Bo Zeiler and Austin Ray each went 2 for 4 for the hosts.

Bitterroot rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to win the second game. Tyler McCoy picked up his first win on the mound after coming on in relief of Tyler Scheffer in the third inning.

Tanner Lehr went 3 for 3 to lead the Red Sox at the plate. Teammates Jackson Olson and Devon Bartle each had a pair of hits. For Kalispell, Zach Sands was 3 for 5.

POLSON — The Libby Loggers and Mission Valley Mariners split a doubleheader on Tuesday.

Libby pitcher Jared Winslow hurled a complete game as the Loggers won the opener and Mission Valley’s Nick Crawford and TJ Olson homered in the Mariners’ victory in game two.

Winslow allowed zero earned runs on four hits. He walked one and struck out 12.

Oliver Grupenhoff led Libby’s offense, batting 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Winslow was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI and Andrew Haggerty was 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Ryan Pablo batted 2 for 4 for Mission Valley and drove in two of the Mariners’ three runs.

Crawford earned the win in game two, allowing zero earned runs in a seven-inning complete game. He also went 2 for 4 at the plate with three RBIs.
