Rainfall a boon for wildflowers

Heavy rainfall in the past week in Glacier National Park created some problems but also boosted wildflower displays.

On top of an already abundant beargrass bloom, flowers such as arrowleaf balsamroot have benefited from the rainfall.

From two to three inches of rain fell last week in many areas of the park, leading to debris slides and some localized flooding.

Rainfall and damage were more severe just to the north of Glacier, where Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada had to contend with one major roadway severed by flooding.
