Symphony to play pops concert

| June 26, 2013 5:00 PM

The Glacier Symphony will be challenging any errant thunderclouds to a duel when the orchestra performs the “Thunder and Lighting Polka” at its Symphony Summer Pops concert  July 6 at Rebecca Farm in Kalispell.

John Zoltek will cue the orchestra for the Strauss composition, before segueing into the “Trumpeter’s Lullaby,” with Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” bringing the concert to its grand finale. The concert promises an evening filled with entertaining music in the grand style offering a diverse program of Russian, English, Austrian, Italian, Czech an, of course, American classical pops music.

Large tents will be set up if it should happen to threaten rain.

The concert will be held on the new acoustic sound shell stage on the lawn of the equestrian farm located at 1010 W. Spring Creek Road in the heart of the Flathead Valley. Bring a picnic, lawn chairs, blankets and the whole family — entry is by the carload.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m.

The entry fee is $35 in advance or $40 per car at the gate. Vendors will offer a variety of foods, plus beer and wine for sale.
