Baseball roundup: Twins double up

WHITEFISH — The Glacier Twins A team opened the Ed Gallo baseball tournament with a pair of wins over Canadian teams Thursday, edging the Cranbrook (British Columbia) Bandits 6-5 and routing the Fort Macleod (Alberta) Royals 15-1.

The Twins (21-11) rallied with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning in their walk-off win over Cranbrook. Peter Seymor singled to drive in Shane Marcial for the winning run.

Colton Gove finished with a double and two RBIs and Austin Robins earned the win, pitching 2 1-3 hitless innings in relief of starter Hugh Ramlow.

The Twins scored 13 runs in the second inning of their victory over Fort Macleod. Zac Darling batted 3 for 3 with two doubles and four RBIs. Brandon Maassen was also 3 for 3 and Jake Slaybaugh finished 4 for 4 and drove in five runs.

Maassen earned the win, pitching three scoreless innings before ceding the reins to reliever Gove.

In other tournament action, the Glacier Babe Ruth All-Stars beat the Twins’ B team 10-2 and Cranbrook beat Fort Macleod 11-3.

Pool play resumes today when the Glacier All-Stars take on the Missoula Frontiers at 11 a.m. The Kalispell Lakers A team will play Cranbrook at 1:45 p.m., the Twins’ B team will play the Calgary PBF Redbirds at 4:40 p.m. and the Twins and Lakers A teams will finish the day with a nine-inning conference game scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Boys of Summer Tournament

Livingston 8, Mission Valley 7

BELGRADE — The Mission Valley Mariners rallied from a 7-2 deficit, but came up one run short in their opener at the Boys of Summer Tournament.

Livingston scored six runs against Mission Valley starting pitcher Jeremiah Crawford in the third inning and scored what turned out to be the game-winner in the fifth against reliever Aaron Rasmussen.

Zeke Webster-Yaqui, Crawford, Alex Killian and TJ Olson each batted 2 for 4 for the Mariners. Tanner Hall batted 3 for 4 with a home run to lead Livingston.

MILES CITY — Jared Winslow tallied 14 strikeouts in a seven-inning two-hitter and the Libby Loggers shut out Miles City 2-0 on the opening day of the Harry Griffith Tournament.

Both of Libby’s runs came in the fifth inning. Luke Haggerty’s RBI-single scored Collin Johnson and Cameron Burkes scored when Winslow was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Burkes finished 2 for 3.

Libby plays Glasgow at 11:30 p.m. and Sidney at 2 p.m. today.
