State soccer: Bravettes defeat Hellgate 2-0 in loser-out play
HELENA — Paige Birky got the Bravettes off to a fast start with a goal in the 8th minute and Flathead beat Missoula Hellgate 2-0 to stay alive at the Class AA girls soccer state tournament Friday at Siebel Fields.
Midfielder Jacquelyn Merrill added Flathead’s second goal in the 34th minute.
The Bravettes wrap up their season today at 10 a.m. against Billings Skyview. The winner finishes fifth.
Helena High plays Billings Senior for the championship at 12:30 p.m. Great Falls C.M. Russell and Bozeman play for third place at 10 a.m.
The boys’ championship game pits defending state champion Bozeman against Helena High.
