State A soccer: Whitefish girls fall to Billings Central
BILLINGS — Class A leading scorer Allie Lucas scored twice in the first 15 minutes to propel Billings Central to a 4-1 win over Whitefish in the girls Class A soccer state championship match on Saturday at Rocky Mountain College.
The win gave Billings Central (15-0-0) its sixth consecutive Class A championship.
Mariah Wittman netted a third goal for Billings Central in the 34th minute.
Caroline Carbo scored for Whitefish (12-3-0) six minutes into the second half but Billings Central restored its three-goal lead five minutes later when Amy Mueller converted a penalty kick.
Billings Central outshot Whitefish 17-7.
Livingston won the boys Class A soccer championship with a 3-1 overtime victory over Stevensville.
Daniel Newhouse broke the tie eight minutes into the first overtime and Tom Short iced it early in the second overtime.
Livingston knocked off the Whitefish boys in the opening round of the playoffs.
