'Screaming of a socialist agenda does not make it fact'

I doubt if there has been a time in the last 100 years that our country has been more politically polarized than it is today. It is sad and scary the amount hate and vitriol in public opinion. It is sad that 50 years after the passage of the Civil Rights Act that racism and bigotry are so prevalent.

Even in political cartoons we have never seen such hatred and ugliness as we see today. Everyone in our free society has the right to their own opinion. No one, however, is entitled to create their own set of facts. I think Dr. Myerowitz’s recent letter was misleading at best.

If you are rich and fear that Obama and the Democrats will make you pay your fair share of taxes, you probably have a low opinion of them. But screaming of a socialist agenda does not make it fact.

Dr. Myerowitz wrote this:

“The Syrian debacle no longer allows liberals to ignore what conservatives had been pointing out for several years — blunder after blunder followed by stonewalling and cover up. Fast and Furious, Ben-ghazi, IRS, wire-tapping reporters, Obamacare, failed economic policy and decreasing employment. How many examples of poor decision making and management must be tolerated before the spineless Republicans demand and receive answers or else subpoena and hold in contempt the entire Cabinet?”

Here is the list of Dr. Myerowitz’s misleading facts:

1. Fast and Furious. It was started under President Bush, and Obama put a stop to it.

2. Benghazi. Those four Americans’ lives were no more valuable than the each of the 4,000 that were killed in the Bush-Cheney Iraq War. House Republicans had recently cut $300 million from the budget for embassy security. Did that endanger our embassies?

3. IRS. The IRS was doing its job checking on tax-exempt organizations, and they checked on Democrats as well as Republicans.

4. Wire-tapping. The CIA has been snooping on citizens for decades. Was Obama behind all that?

5. Obamacare. This is the one issue that shines a bright light on Republican bigotry like no other. It is not government health care. That would be like the health care that the members of Congress have. Secondly Obamacare is a conglomeration of Republican ideas like Romneycare, but because Obama is for it, the racist Republicans are against it.

Whatever Obama is for they are against. Their only mission is to stop anything that Obama does, and the American middle class is just collateral damage.

The final absurdity is “Obama’s failed economic policy and decreasing employment.” Is the American auto industry a failed policy? Housing is coming back and the stock market is at an all-time high. In five years of Obama, the Republicans have not passed one piece of legislation to create jobs and grow the economy. With zero help from the obstructionist Republicans, the country has seen 46 months of job growth and the deficit is shrinking.

Before Obama’s stimulus plan, we were losing 700,000 jobs a month to the Bush recession. Once the stimulus kicked in, it saved the country from a total depression and job numbers started to rise.

Dr. Myerowitz is right on one thing: The Republicans are spineless. Not one of them will stand up for the American people. Where would the economy be if they had done anything to help?
