Injured hunter still recovering
A Colorado man continues to recover from a hunting accident near Libby on Nov. 16.
John Cleveland, 60, is in stable condition at Kalispell Regional Medical Center, according to a news release this week from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
The near-term goal is to stabilize Cleveland enough to transfer him to a Colorado hospital for further medical care.
Cleveland was accidentally shot in the upper thigh by Mike Wagner, 48, of Libby in the Libby Creek area.
Wagner, who did not know Cleveland, applied a tourniquet above the wound, then drove Cleveland to meet an ambulance.
Cleveland originally was in critical condition, but Lincoln County Undersheriff Brent Faulkner said his condition had been upgraded to stable.
Cleveland has not lost his leg to amputation due to the tourniquet application, Faulkner said.
Faulkner said authorities still are investigating the shooting.
