Sex offender sentenced for failing to register
A man convicted in 2008 of raping and molesting two girls and now convicted of failing to register his new address is headed to jail.
Donald Stanfield, 28, was sentenced Nov. 22 in Flathead District Court by District Judge Ted Lympus to five years with the Montana Department of Corrections.
That sentence will be followed by five years of probation after Stanfield failed to notify law enforcement that he moved from Polson to Kalispell.
Stanfield was employed as a teacher at the Northwest Ballet Company — with which he had been involved since 2006 — at the time of his arrest for his most recent crime.
He is designated a Tier I sexual offender, indicating the lowest likelihood of committing another sex crime.
