World art icons up for discussion

| October 2, 2013 5:00 PM

Stumptown Art Studio’s Cultural and Art History Club meets Tuesday.

At this month’s meeting, the club will discuss world art icons.

“We continue to evolve as a group and come up with new ideas and discussion approaches that lead to learning art history,” a news release from Stumptown Art Studio says.

Typically the group discusses one artist a month; topics range from Montana to world artists.

For those who want to study ahead, the following artists will be up for discussion at upcoming meetings:

• December — Montana artist Howard Jacobsen

• January — American artist Judy Chicago

• February — European artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec

• March — World artist Vasily Perov

• April — Compare and contrast the art and times of Jacobsen, Chicago, de Toulouse-Lautrec and Perov

Rosella Mosteller leads the club, which meets at 10 a.m. Typically meetings run until noon; Tuesday’s session, however, could run long as the group celebrates its second anniversary.

Those interested in attending may sign up for an annual membership or pay a $5 drop-in fee.
