Missing man turns up safe and sound

Flathead County Search and Rescue personnel, including a search dog, were called out to an Evergreen store after a developmentally disabled man in his 50s walked away from his mother. He was later found, unharmed, off Montana 35 and was returned to his family.


A Star Meadows Road woman contacted the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office after several people pulled into the end of her driveway and started shooting toward her property. She went outside and asked them to stop and heard them tell her to shut up. They then started shooting the trees located 20 to 30 feet from her house. She called back later to say she believed they had left, and a responding deputy was unable to locate the suspicious shooters.

A drunken man was reported driving with a 5-year-old child in the vehicle with him after he hit a woman and headbutted her. Deputies eventually located and arrested the man.

An IRS agent with the agency’s criminal investigations unit of its fraud team reported an elderly Whitefish man was a victim of a Publisher’s Clearing House scam.

The owner of a U.S. 2 East property and a person who handles Section 8 housing contacted the sheriff’s office after collecting evidence that a renter was now cooking methamphetamine on the property.

A person with a sterling conscience turned in $1,200 found under a seat in a rental car.

A donkey was returned to its owner after being reported running onto U.S. 93 South.

An officer dropped a California woman off at a hotel after she was reported sitting in front of the airport on the sidewalk and being combative with officers.


A parent contacted the Kalispell Police Department when another man started getting belligerent with him after his daughter accidentally dented the man’s car. The parent said the daughter was opening her door when the wind caught it and opened it hard into the other vehicle.

A person reported his belief that someone stole equipment and merchandise from a local tattoo parlor after a high school freshman tried to sell the person’s daughter a tattoo gun.

A big man on a tiny motorcycle was counseled on his driving after being reported swerving all over both sides of the road.

A West Wyoming Street resident reported the front windows on a porch were shot out with a BB gun. The resident believed it had happened when all the vehicles were vandalized.

A pair of men reported for smoking marijuana under a trestle on the Rails to Trails bicycle path turned out to be rolling cigarettes stuffed with tobacco only.

A wary woman on 12th Street West reported an aggressive pit bull in front of her house that started barking and moving toward her when she stepped outside.

A man was counseled on getting a different type of glass if he wanted to observe himself after he was reported dancing and singing on North Main Street while carrying a large shard of glass.

A pair of men were reported using flashlights to look into vehicles on Fourth Street West.


A concerned resident contacted the Whitefish Police Department to report a man who seemed very aggressive and scary limping down Central Avenue, glaring at people and saying “(expletive) America.”

A man contacted police after seeing reports of a former employee in the newspaper. He said a bunch of tools went missing a month after he fired the person, and he now suspected the former employee was the thief.

A Birch Point Drive resident reported a bear keeps getting into the garbage.

A Ramsey Avenue resident called to speak with an officer about people leaving trash out for bears.


The Columbia Falls Police Department received a call after someone stole a person’s money and candy bars on South Veteran Drive.
