Police give coat thief the cold shoulder

A group of six or seven people reported fighting outside a U.S. 93 South bar had left the area by the time a Kalispell Police Department officer arrived on the scene, but the officer did make contact with a man urinating in the bar’s parking lot.

A man who tried to steal a coat from a Hutton Ranch Road store didn’t escape for long, being located and arrested after fleeing the scene.

An officer responded to the emergency room to talk with the victim of an alleged abduction and sexual assault that began at a Woodland Park Drive bar.

A Fifth Avenue East woman reported the fuel line on her daughter’s vehicle had been cut for the second time.

And awkward incident on Appleway Drive was reported by a resident who opened their door when a man knocked, and then the man tried to come in. The resident was able to get the door shut and the man left.

A Fifth Avenue East woman and her teenage daughter were counseled and separated for the night after they got into a fight during which the daughter punched her mother in the face.

An officer who stopped to investigate a woman laying in the road next to her vehicle on 12th Street East ended up arresting the woman for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia after searching her vehicle.

A 911 call that went dead after the dispatcher heard a man and woman arguing and the woman yelling “get off of me” ended when a man was arrested at an 11th Street East home.

An Airport Road man and a homeowners association representative on Granary Ridge Drive complained about dogs in their respective areas defecating in residents’ yards.

A boy sustained several cuts, including some on his face, when he was hit by a car on Northridge Drive.

A deer that wasn’t looking where it was going was killed when it ran into a truck on Commons Way.

The Whitefish Police Department was dispatched to a Central Avenue bar after a bartender reported a purple-haired woman was in the middle of the bar with a service dog, claiming she needed it but not providing any documentation proving it. The woman’s boyfriend also called to report bar employees had taken her certification and were holding it behind the bar.

A combative transient with a recreational vehicle was reported to police after being seen standing around on U.S. 93 South with a cardboard sign while his RV leaked oil into the river.

An observant passerby reported a drug deal after witnessing a man giving a group of people a bag of something out of his backpack after they walked up to him on Central Avenue and handed him money.

A Waverly Place woman called to complain about a pair of dogs that had killed some hens, upset that the hen feathers were all over her yard.

People feeding ducks caused traffic issues on East Fifth Street.

A report of a hitchhiker looking distressed turned up a very drunk man who was trying to figure out where he lived.

A motorist was arrested on a pair of warrants after he was stopped on East Second Street for having obscured license plates.


A woman stopped by the Columbia Falls Police Department after having been finger printed and not having paid for it. She was advised not to worry about it.
