'Copperhead' screening a fundraiser for theater program

Don’t miss a screening of “Copperhead” Friday at Flathead High School.

The film starts at 7 p.m. at the high school auditorium.

“Copperhead” stars Casey Brown, a Bigfork actor who graduated from Flathead High. Brown plays Jeff Beech, the son of abolitionist Abner Beech, a Copperhead, a Northern Democrat who opposed the Civil War, even if slavery continued.

The movie, which also stars Peter Fonda and Billy Campbell, was directed by Ron Maxwell, whose other films include “Gettysburg” and “Gods and Generals.”

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Flathead High theater program.
