Boys soccer: Braves lose to Bengals

HELENA — Helena High scored three late goals in the span of 15 minutes to defeat Flathead 4-0 on Thursday in a Western AA boys state play-in soccer match.

Helena, the third seed, took an early lead on Payton Biegler’s goal 10 minutes into play.

The Bengals did not score again on the sixth-seeded Braves (1-10-2) until 51 minutes on a shot by Isaac Brostrom.

Cayman Beason followed with a goal at 55 minutes and added another to complete the scoring at 66 minutes.

Helena (8-3-2) outshot Flathead on goal 19-3.

Helena moves on to state tournament play next Thursday in Helena.
