Stillwater Christian School moved a little closer to a fifth-straight Montana Christian Athletic Association state volleyball championship by defeating Yellowstone County Home School 25-20, 25-13, 25-22 in semifinal play Friday night at SCS.

Stillwater (22-4 overall) is 3-0 in state play. The championship match today is at 2:30 p.m.

Sarah Paolini had a big game at the net with 17 kills. She also led in digs with 22. Courtney Beaver’s five blocks were a team best for the Cougars.

“They have all been tough games for us,” SCS coach Diane Smith said.

“For us to come out on top, we had to be on top of our game. One thing the girls do well is play well together. Tonight they came out and were determined to dominate right away. I was just thrilled.”

Kills — Stillwater 29 (Sarah Paolini 17); Blocks — Stillwater 6 (Courtney Beaver 4); Assists — Stillwater 28 (Dorothy Smith 22); Digs — Stillwater 68 (Paolini 22); Aces — Stillwater 7 (Alisa Venman 2).
