Bravettes, Wolfpack net volleyball wins

HELENA — Flathead took care of business with a 25-18, 25-21, 22-25, 18-25, 15-10 Western AA volleyball victory Friday night over Helena High (13-7, 7-3).

The Bravettes (14-10 overall, 7-3 league) had 64 kills in the match. Timi Severson was credited with 23 and Lizzie Sherwood added 19.

Severson also led in blocks with seven.

“It was an important win for us,” Flathead coach Leon Wilcox said.

“We played really consistent in the first two games. Helena never got a lead once. We ran out of a little energy in the middle of the match, but we finished really strong.”

Flathead is back in action today at noon at Helena Capital.

Helena Capital 1

HELENA — Third-ranked Glacier stayed perfect in Western AA play by beating Helena Capital 25-15, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23.

Katie Wiley had 20 of Glacier’s 62 kills. Cassi Hashley was next with 16.

Wiley, Hashley and Brielle Bumgarner had three blocks each.

Kayla Russell had 28 digs for the Wolfpack.

“Capital played great defense,” Glacier coach Christy Harkins said.

“We attacked the ball a ton. We kept battling.”

Glacier (18-3, 9-0) plays at Helena High today at noon.
