Casey Faye Armstrong Wood, 23

Casey Faye Armstrong Wood, 23, of Eureka, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, near Whitefish from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Casey was born July 16, 1991 in Kalispell, to Leona Armstrong.

Casey grew up and attended school in Eureka. During Casey's junior year in high school, she joined the Army Reserves. Casey did her basic training between her junior and senior years in high school at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. After her senior year, she was stationed at Fort Lee, Va. where she received her advanced training as an Automated Logistics Specialist for the Army. In her nearly six years of service, she received numerous awards including the Army Achievement Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

In 2010, Casey graduated from Lincoln County High School as a valedictorian. After graduation, Casey began attending the University of Montana in Missoula and studied accounting and finance.

Casey met her future husband, Taylor Wood, in Eureka. They were married on June 23, 2012, at Dickey Lake near Eureka. This spring, Casey finished her schooling at the University of Montana and graduated with a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance. Casey enjoyed and excelled at playing tennis and volleyball. She loved spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Taylor Wood, of Eureka; mother, Leona Armstrong, of Eureka; sister Christy Gross and her husband Chris and their children William and Caitlynn of Bigfork; and numerous extended family members.

Graveside services will be Saturday, Aug, 30, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Tobacco Valley Cemetery in Eureka. A reception will be held afterward at the Silverado Motel from 1 to 3 p.m. Local arrangements are under the care of Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Eureka.
