Libby boys win C-Falls golf tourney
RONAN — Libby, with three golfers in the top 10, won the Columbia Falls Invitational golf tournament on Monday at Mission Mountain Country Club.
Libby turned in a 370 total to edge Frenchtown for the top spot by six strokes.
Chris Delaney of Frenchtown shot a 4-over 76 to claim medalist honors and finish three shots ahead of Libby’s Johnny Cielak.
Libby’s Kyle McNew, 82, was third and Luke Adamson, 98, was 10th.
Columbia Falls had two individuals in the top 10 — Gabe Love shot an 84, which put him fourth, and Tristen Steinwand carded a 96 to tie for eighth.
Frenchtown also had the medalist and took team honors in girls play.
Ashlyn Stenerson shot a 92 to finish five shots ahead of teammate Jamie Knight.
Libby’s Lilly Feeback, 100, was third.
Frenchtown finished with a 389 team score. Libby, 527, was a distant second.
Columbia Falls had two players in the top 10 — Ashley Trueblood, 121, was seventh and Maddy Heinz, 128, ninth.
Libby’s Hanna Stewart, 122, was eighth and Asia Jones, 140, 10th.
“A good tournament,” Columbia Falls coach Gene Marcille said.
“For a lot of young players, it was a good opportunity to get out and get a full round in. We got rained out in Whitefish (last week).”
The next outing for Columbia Falls, Frenchtown and Libby is the Polson Northwestern A Invitational on Sept. 2.
