Kristina Lynn Hughes, 29

| February 22, 2014 4:02 PM

The day Kristina Lynn Hughes discovered she a baby growing in her belly was the best day of her life. Her daughter, Izzabella Marie Hughes, was Kristina’s greatest achievement in life.

Kristina was born to Shirley J. Hughes (Singleton) in Libby on Feb. 13, 1985.

She left this world on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, 2014. Kristina had just turned 29 years old.

Kristina’s laugh was magical and contagious. Kristina’s heart of gold inspired her to help the plethora of people she met during her life’s journey. Upon completion of her CNA, she worked at the Immanuel Lutheran Home and enjoyed the various patients she worked with. She touched the lives of every person she met. Kristina loved the clients she met through Flathead Industries; the Halloween party was a highlight each year of her employment. Kristina loved the bartenders and kitchen staff she worked with at Moose’s Saloon. She also worked at Alliance Title & Escrow, the Heritage Place, Bath & Body in Kalispell and the Veterans Home in Columbia Falls. Many of the friendships she made became an important part of the person she became, striving to make them smile and laugh. When Kristina loved someone, she gave her whole heart and a piece of her soul. There is nothing she would not have done for someone she cared about, no matter how great or small; helping her sister stack wood, delivering groceries to her uncle or cooking for her mother. Kristina loved having barbecues, dancing and listening to a variety of music. She enjoyed spending every available minute loving, teaching, walking in the park and playing with her “One True Love,” Izzabella.

“The love she has for her daughter is eternal and will live on forever.”

Kristina enjoyed the rafting trips and camping during her Montana summers. She loved to travel. Kristina loved the summer she spent in California, going to school in Vancouver, as well as numerous roads trips with her sister LaSaundra, “Little One,” seeing many places from shopping in Seattle to riding the roller coasters at Silverwood. Kristina also traveled with Carina back and forth to Spokane while Nathan was receiving treatment for childhood cancer.

Kristina Hughes was preceded in death by her grandfather/father figure, George Bruffy Singleton; and her nephew, Anthony “Charlie-Bear” Charles Kuechmann Jr.; as well as Nathan Evans, her best friend Carina’s son.

Kristina is survived by her daughter, Izzabella Marie Hughes; mother, Shirley J. Hughes (Singleton) of Kalispell; sister, LaSaundra Sue Kuechmann (Villalobos) and brother-in-law, Anthony Charles Kuechmann Sr., and their daughter, Akazia Cloud Kuechmann of Bigfork; as well as her uncle, Steven G. Singleton of Kalispell; aunts, Sherry Singleton and Sandie Singleton; her Auntie Vesta Moe (Villalobos) and Uncle Jack Moe of Lapwai, Idaho; as well as numerous cousins in Lapwai, Kalispell and California. She is also survived by her best friend, Carina Weiss, her husband Joe and children, their three beautiful children, of Kalispell.

Services are being held from 2 to 7 p.m. today, Feb. 23 in the back banquet room at the Kalispell VFW. Bring any photos or stories; potluck dishes are welcome.
