Flathead boosters sponsor Vegas night

The Flathead Booster Club is bringing Las Vegas to the valley on Jan. 11.

Place bets on blackjack, poker, craps, roulette, races and roll the dice from 6 to 9:30 p.m. followed by drawings for multiple grand prizes during Vegas in the Valley — Kickback for Orange and Black at the Kalispell Elks Lodge.

A silent auction featuring more than 50 items also will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. One of the highlighted items up for bid is a commemorative football autographed by the 2013-14 Denver Broncos.

The football initially was donated by Broncos quarterback and Flathead High School graduate Brock Osweiler and was won by Flathead in a community food drive competition in October.

A no-host bar will open at 6 p.m. and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the night.

Admission is $10 per person. People must be 21 or older to attend.

Pre-sale game chips that have added value are available for purchase through Jan. 7. Pay $30 for $75 in chips or $50 for $150 in game chips. High rollers who spend $100 will get $400 in chips.

After Jan. 7, game chips will be sold at face value in increments of $25. Chips purchased are considered donations and have no cash value. Chips may be used to play games throughout the night or redeemed for grand prize raffle tickets from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Admission and game chips may be purchased by mail or online.

Registration forms are available at www.flatheadbosterclub.org. Mail must be postmarked by Jan. 7 to get the presale value. Forms may be mailed to Flathead Booster Club, P.O. Box 502, Kalispell, MT 59901.

People also may choose to make purchases at the Flathead Booster website through PayPal.

Grand prizes include travel, golf, fitness, vacation and living room packages. Raffle tickets are $10. People do not have to be present to win.

This is the first event of its kind for Flathead Boosters, club president Trina Stivers said. The goal is to raise a minimum of $10,000. All proceeds go toward the booster club’s support of more than 20 Flathead High School activities and clubs.

“We will all be there for a fun night of fundraising,” Stivers said.

Stivers said she hopes Vegas in the Valley will be popular enough to become an annual event.

“You don’t have to have kids in the school now to participate,” Stivers said. “We hope alumni join us or people who just want to support the students. We hope the community embraces the event and it can become our major fundraiser every year.”
