Basketball: Corvallis boys, girls beat Polson

POLSON — Corvallis (4-3) opened the game on a 19-4 run and never looked back in a 53-30 win at Polson (2-6) in a nonconference Class A basketball game on Tuesday.

Brigham Parrish scored 15 points and Jayce Gilder had 14 for the Blue Devils in the win. 

Andrew Weltz led Polson with eight points and Cedrick Smith seven. The Pirates sturggled from the field, shooting just 23 percent for the game.

Polson hosts Libby on Saturday in its next contest. The Pirates will look to return to .500 in conference with a win.

CORVALLIS — A second half surge wasn’t enough to get Polson (0-8) over the top against Corvallis (2-5) in a nonconference Class A basketball game. 

The Lady Pirates outscored Corvallis 15-10 in the third quarter to cut their deficit to one point entering the final eight minutes of regulation but couldn’t close it out. The Blue Devils scored 13 points in the final frame to edge Polson by three points. 

Corrinne Sanderson scored a game-high 15 points to lead Corvallis. 

Nichole Lake and Kaelen Wall each had 11 points to lead the Pirates. Skyla Krantz had nine.

Polson gets back to conference play on Saturday when it hosts Libby. The Pirates will be looking for their first win in conference.
