She was born in Great Falls to William and Elizabeth Buchman on June 26, 1919. She grew up in Great Falls where her father worked on the railroad. After graduating from high school, she attended Montana State University. She gradated from MSU with a degree in home economics.

She taught school in a few rural areas, including Rocky Boy. She moved to Seattle during wartime and worked for Boeing as a draftsman. She met her husband Edward Ornelles in Seattle. He was a chief communications technician in the Navy. They were married on Nov. 18, 1945.

They moved to many different places because of Ed’s career in the navy. They lived in the Philippines, Japan, England, Hawaii, California, Washington, D.C., and Kalispell. They traveled the world and spent a lot of time in Asia and Europe. She would tell people of her time spent sitting on the banks of the Ganges River.

Marion was artistic and enjoyed painting, weaving, sewing and crafts. She was active in the local weavers group. She loved art, flowers (especially orchids), music and reading.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sibling who died as an infant; and her husband, Ed.

She is survived by her sister, Margaret Williams Haag, of Glendive; and by nieces and nephews.
