Name-calling leads to girl fight

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office responded to East Cottonwood Drive after an altercation between several girls who called each other names before getting into a fight. The father of one of the girls who was assaulted also tried to round up a gang of youths to go beat up the other youths. Several of the youths involved in the scuffle are being charged with disorderly conduct.

A not-so-cheerful Cheery Lynn Road resident reported her neighbor had shot and injured a magpie and had a box of dead magpies on his porch. She previously had been told by a Fish, Wildlife and Parks officer that the neighbor’s actions were not criminal.

A furious father reported a motorist nearly hit him, his girlfriend and their baby while they were walking through a crosswalk on U.S. 93 North, and that the motorist cursed at them when he passed.

A Tamarack Lane woman said she was awakened by a bear when it came up to her home and tried to knock down a post connected to her porch.

A man was arrested for partner or family member assault after he was reported stomping on a woman and saying “I’m going to kill that baby!”

A dispatcher was regaled with what sounded like a car full of girls singing “This is How You Jiggle” when one of them accidentally dialed 911.

A representative from an East Evergreen Drive elementary school reported another broken window on a bus.

A herd of about 20 cows was contained after getting loose and backing up traffic on Montana 35 in Bigfork.

A person on Montana 35 reported people asking about getting drugs.

Several youths were reported shooting a pellet gun at an Arbour Drive West house.


A woman was cited and released by a Kalispell Police Department officer, then banned from a Third Avenue East North business after she tried to steal dog food from the store.

A pair of girls were reported continually calling a Fifth Avenue East girl and threatening to come beat her up over a boy problem.

People were reported throwing fireworks at vehicles on West Idaho Street.


The Whitefish Police Department did not have the resources at the time to assist a caller who reported a loose pontoon boat floating near the shore of Whitefish Lake in the area of Plaza Road.

A gas can, an iPod, glasses and gift cards were stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Racquet Court.


The Columbia Falls Police Department made 24 traffic stops between 11:02 a.m. and 10:13 p.m. Wednesday.
