Legion baseball: Sapa tosses 1-hitter for Glacier Twins

WHITEFISH — Jonny Sapa tossed a 1-hitter and Tristin Steinwand and Vincent Smith both went 2 for 3 with two RBIs in leading the Glacier Twins A to a 13-1 victory over the Missoula Prospects on Friday at the 25th annual Ed Gallo Memorial American Legion baseball tournament at Memorial Field.

Sapa fanned seven hitters in the five-inning contest and issued just one walk.

Glacier (22-8-1) scored in every inning with an eight-run third setting the tone for the easy victory.

Jayce Fagerland and Kyler Howke also had two hits each for the Twins.

Extra base hits by Glacier were turned in by Colten Parker, who doubled, and Smith, who tripled.

Pool play continues today and winds up Sunday with the top two finishers from the two pools facing off in single-elimination action.

The Twins are the defending tournament champions.
