Frenchtown shuts down Wildkats

FRENCHTOWN — Frenchtown’s Krista Hebnes drove in five runs with a double and a home run to lead the Broncs to an 8-1 Northwestern A softball victory over Columbia Falls on Thursday.

Hebnes’ doubled with the bases loaded in the bottom of the third, driving in two runs to give the Broncs a 4-0 lead.

She a hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach for Columbia Falls.

Morgan Ray dominated in the circle, holding the Wildkats to just three hits in seven innings. She struck out 10 batters  and also hit a solo home run to help her own cause.

Breanna Friar drove in the lone run for Columbia Falls in the sixth inning.

First baseman Ashley Cantu, shortstop Winter Kemppainen and third baseman Tiffany Hummer all had hits for the Wildkats.

Columbia Falls travels to Polson for another Northwestern A contest on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
